Luther Rose Paper Plate Craft
We have several crafts that they get to try. I've tried several over the years, but these few are the ones that consistently have something that holds the attention and gives opportunity to teach.
It is easy to find a printout online to color Luther's Rose. But what does each color and symbol mean? That was harder to tease out.
Blue: symbolizes loyalty and the sky in which Jesus will come back soon
Red Heart: Jesus' sacrifice
Black Cross: reminds us that all have sinned and need the grace provided by the cross
Green Leaves: the new life God gives to us
White Petals: remind us of the peace that we have because of God's grace
5 Petals: are the 5 Solas
Gold Circle: is never-ending joy and promise of God
I print out a coloring page of the Luther Rose and have the kids glue it to a paper plate for durability. Then we apply glue around the edge and sprinkle with gold glitter. Messy joy! It is a simple craft that allows them enough time to focus on the meaning and short enough to move on to the next game or craft.
I found a great printable on this blog
Also, if you have much older kids and some patience Kelly Klages has a beautiful Luther Rose snowflake cutout with instructions that are easy to follow and lots of pictures.
I hope you and your kids have a blessed time on Reformation Day! Drop a comment below and tell me how it went.
